Use Lamps to Add Color & Style to Your Space

Oh, how I love lamps! They, like throw pillows, can change the look of your room in an instant and don’t have to be a huge investment. You can add a dash of color in the shade or the base – or both.

I am using these lamps in a project right now, as a matter of fact. The décor is relatively neutral and my clients wanted to add pops of color in rooms throughout their home – these choices will do quite nicely!

As a designer, I have access to trade-only vendors (3 of these lamps are from Currey & Co) but I love to buy from huge retailers like Shades of Light and Lightology, as well. The two mercury glass lamps above come from Shades of Light. Check out the great selections at Target and Cost Plus/World Market too – they have affordable prices and a surprisingly diverse selection of styles.

Don’t forget to add in some floor lamps – varying the types of lighting in a room is important. Here are some current favorites – three different styles – and they are not colorful but are great “basics”.

And finally, here are a few of the gorgeous lamps that I have in stock in the shop right now!

So don’t forget your lighting in your overall decorating plan. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to “brighten” up the look of your room. and stay tuned for my next post about Chandeliers and Pendants and tips on how high to hang them, how big they "should" be for your space and more! XO
